RESIDENT PAPER CONTEST SUBMISSIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED
In keeping with the American College of Surgeon’s tradition of continuing education and life-long learning, the New York Chapter of the American College of Surgeons is pleased to announce that a Resident Paper Contest will be conducted in conjunction with the 33rdAnnual New York Surgical Symposium.  The Symposium will take place on Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1, 2011 at the Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx NY.
 
The Chapter would like to invite the residents of your program to submit a paper on any topic pertaining to surgery for consideration.  Residents may enter the Resident Paper Contest by submitting an unpublished manuscript to the NY Chapter of the American College of Surgeons no later than April 1, 2011. Submission is accepted by email and mail. Each manuscript must include a cover letter and be typed, double-spaced and include a title page, abstract, acknowledgements, references, tables and legends. A previously presented paper is acceptable and only one manuscript per resident will be accepted.
 
The papers are judged in two categories Clinical and Scientific. Each submission will be able to display a poster and give a brief 5 minute presentation. The winner in each category will be chosen by their peers, and announced at the conclusion of the Symposium on Sunday.  Each winner will receive an award and financial assistance to attend the 2011 Clinical Congress in San Francisco CA October 23-27, 2011
 
Please encourage your residents to participate in the contest and attend the Symposium at Jacobi. The cost is free, however, registration is necessary. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Chapter office at (518) 283-1601.
